Happy.Mother's.Day!!!

Dsc03378 Isn't this the sweetest note ever?!

Long ago, 17 years to be exact, I studied to become an interpreter for the deaf.  Joshua just recently became interested in sign language (finger spelling, really).  He drew all these hands to spell out his Mother's Day message.  "We Love You Mom".

I'll be keeping this forever!

Dsc03376 Here's the other part of my gift...breakfast made by the guys, and homemade card all done outside in our lovely backyard.  I am certainly blessed.

heart rock

Joshua found the above rock on our donkey petting expedition.  I'm wondering if it's possible to use personal images for business cards?  Does anyone know the answer to that?  This would be a good image for me.  (I like how his hands are dirty.)

Camping Bug Bit::Choke Canyon

Dsc03236 It has been over a year since our last camping trip.  (I've been begging for months...)

We went to Choke Canyon because it had available tent spots and was reasonably close to home.  It was a gorgeous cloudy weekend with the sun's rays piercing through the clouds every once in a while.

There were also maintained trails like this one.  Quiet and peaceful.

Dsc03235 Yes.  There are.  This sign was a stone's throw from our tent.  We only saw them in the water.  YIPES.

Next stop- Stephen F. Austin State Park and then...this summer...THE DAVIS MOUNTAINS.  I'm totally psyched about that one!

more spring break fun

We have had some visitors the past two days.  We've had lots of fun.  Today when Jeff, Joseph and Joshua were out shooting, I had a nice visit with Sarah and the two babes.  Caleb had a good time, too.  I thought I would let my almost 2 year old neice, Mikayla experiment with paint.  :o)

Here's her masterpiece.

Dsc03128

She loves to color.  She enjoyed her first painting experience.  When I asked her if she'd like to color with paint, she said, "I do" and promptly tried to pick up the blobs of paint like a crayon.  ;o)  She got the hang of it quickly though.

And!  She even washed her brush!  Not even my highschoolers would do that...she's a genius.

New to Us Outdoor Furniture

Dsc03015 WOW!  Jeff was asked to haul some junk off a friend's lakefront property and we were given this furniture.  It was faded taupe.  I bought some Rust-o-leum Hammered Metal spray paint and sprayed the chairs.  I still have the love seat.  It has super thick cushions which are also sun faded.  However, check out the material I found at WM for $2.97 a yard.

Dsc03012

It is canvas.  I bought 8 yards for $24!  I couldn't even purchase one cushion for that amount.  I can't wait to start sewing.  I am going to recover our other outdoor cushions on the other four chairs outback.  :o)  Happy Camper!

My New Nephew

Babyjoe Baby Joseph with Daddy Joseph's hand.

I cannot wait to meet him!  And to see my niece and her Mommy and Daddy.  We were going to visit them over Spring Break, but instead they're coming here... right, Sarah?  Longer than a day, I hope.  YAY!  A baby in da house!

Sarah, my ever talented SIL, took this picture of her boy.  Isn't it wonderful?

Babyjoseph Is this the most precious picture ever?

Baby Joseph entered the world yesterday morning.

Being an Auntie is the best thing ever! Next to being a Mom...and a wife.  :o)

but I'm not ready...

Dsc02977 We just purchased a new sofa, rearranged our entire living/dining area, and now I have to start thinking about going back to work.  Bah.  I am not ready!  I want to stay in my cozy, newly arranged home and just be.  I'm having a bit of a pity party today...because I have to do lesson plans.

Would you like to see the new digs?  We flip flopped the two rooms, and now we have about twice the space in each.  No, the rooms did not get larger, I think we are just using the spaces more efficiently.  Yay us!

Here's the relaxed version.  Quilt on sofa, lovely orange extension cord supplying electricity to the table lamp (Jeff will put an outlet in the floor), pillows scattered about and Caleb levitating a playing card.  Do you see the tiny square object under his extended hand? :o) Oh, and the strings coming off the FREE, brand new carpet.  (I'm binding it this weekend.)

Dsc02978 The dining area that used to be our living room.  We moved bookshelves, and the table and another little accent table in here. We were able to add the leaf to the table, so now we have elbow room while we dine.  On the table are the holiday decorations that are being put away...today...after lesson plans.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.  I'll be busy preparing for Monday and practicing relaxation techniques (read, napping).
