~Painted Flowers~

15 years ago when my parents bought their new home, my mom hired me ;O) to paint portions of their fence.  As you know, wood rots.  They just had their new fence installed and look what they did!  Isn't this a great idea?  (I think so.)

Dsc00587 This is the garden my mom looks on when she is washing dishes...or my dad sees when HE is washing dishes.  :o)

Dsc00589 The back fence behind the pool.  You can see this from the kitchen table and the living room.

Dsc00590 The side fence behind the garage.  You can see it when you are sitting at the outdoor table eating you scrumptions meal.

Bless this House...

Dsc02999_4 The finished panel for the auction Feb. 9.  It is the big school fundraiser.  I hope it brings in some good money. I think it turned out great...of course, I would think that since I made it.  Hopefully, some others will think the same.  :o)

Dsc03000 I covered the sides also.  I will do the back as well, even though no one will ever see that part. I don't like to see the bare wood.

P.S. The boys are both still sick.  Caleb ate dinner tonight.  The first real meal he's had in days.  Joshua always eats.  :o)  He still has a high temp, though.  I can't believe they will miss an entire week of school.  ugh.  Make up work. bleh.

wip::school auction

Dsc02997 I'm working on a piece for our school auction.  I think it is coming along nicely.  I am waiting for some glue to dry, the background is covered in a light coating of bees wax.  Oh, that stuff smells good.  Sweet.  Honey-like.

Wooo Doggie! Published!

Ok.  Way back in May I showed a bitty sneak peek of a piece I made for publication.  You can see it here.

A few days ago, I was emailed by a long lost art friend from the land of the Yanks.  Little did I know she would be the one to tell me my artwork was published.  How exciting for the BOTH of us.  :o)  Sanna scanned it for me since I don't have the mag yet.  Mine is the the tall one on the right.  "Trees Are Big Plants".  :o)  Thanks so much Sanna!

WIP: Wrapped in Love

I share a room at school with another teacher.  She has 2 girls.  I have 2 boys. As I was going through my files during my big clean up, I found the patterns I had printed from Wee Wonderfuls last year.  I had a brainstorm!  I could make the girls pressies!!!  Embroider.  Quilt.  Have girlie fun!  So here's a sneak peek at what I am making them.  I think they will love cuddling up with their pint sized blankies during wintertime...sipping hot cocoa, reading a book.... aahhh.

Dsc02824 I had a blast picking out fabric on Saturday.  Jeff went with me.  He really likes the colors.  :o)

Dsc02825 The majority is not patch worked.  I did, however, want a bit of it around the embroidery.  I love Hillary's patterns.  They're sweet and timeless but unfortunately for me... the big boys don't want blankies made with them.  SO I have to hunt up girls to 'adopt'.  That's the fun part! Well, besides the embroidery and sewing.  :o)  Can't wait for them to open their packages.

GCRW Brunch and Art Walk

What a morning!  How would you like to participate in an art show in a setting like this?!

Dsc02658 Breathtaking.  An oasis of refuge.  I loved every minute of my morning spent at this home.

Besides the surroundings, I had a wonderful time visiting with the seven other artists.  A sculptor from South Africa, a jeweler,a potter, several painters, and a faux finisher were my fellow participants.

Dsc02657_3 Here's my table are ready to go for the show.  I was able to make a few new pieces just for the show.

Dsc02650

(Left) Here's one that I made a while back, but I don't think I ever blogged about it.  It's been at Gruene.  The background papers are all from children's science books on plants and weather.  The foreground paper is a wonderful Japanese design I found online.  "They Talked About The Weather" is its title.

Dsc02652 "Morning Has Broken"  (Right)

Vintage photograph that I LOVE, various vintage book papers, and Japanese paper.

Dsc02653 (Left)  "Journey"  I used some tasty Indian paper and a whole lotta vintage...children's books, dictionaries, music books, castoff library books, astronomy text...I am so happy to have found something I can make that uses up all my book paper.  :o)

Off to watch a movie with the Hub. Take Care.  **Click the photos to enlarge.**
