One day last week, was it Saturday, we had a beautiful spring-like day. It was warm, not hot, breezy, sunny and by late afternoon we all felt a twinge of spring fever.
I was sitting on our sofa looking out on our back courtyard and noticed this shadow. Photo op!
a side note: (I love our windows. They are not particularly energy effecient but they let in tons of sunshine.)
WOW! Jeff was asked to haul some junk off a friend's lakefront property and we were given this furniture. It was faded taupe. I bought some Rust-o-leum Hammered Metal spray paint and sprayed the chairs. I still have the love seat. It has super thick cushions which are also sun faded. However, check out the material I found at WM for $2.97 a yard.
It is canvas. I bought 8 yards for $24! I couldn't even purchase one cushion for that amount. I can't wait to start sewing. I am going to recover our other outdoor cushions on the other four chairs outback. :o) Happy Camper!
(That was a fairly uninspired title...it's Sunday, almost Monday, so I am trying hard not to think too much.)
Ok, so I am making pillow covers for the accent pillows that came with our sofa. I don't care for matchy-matchy styles, plus I wanted some pillows that were homespun, kinda whimsical, and washable. Here is pillow number one:
I'm working on pillow number two but it is taking a bit longer. I wanted to do some hand embroidery on it. It has the same fabrics, though.
Here is our FREE, BRAND NEW area rug that we bound ourselves. (We used canvas, hotglue, and duck tape. :o) ) We think it looks pretty good for a DIY job.
Next, is the collage of artwork above the couch where the pillow pic was taken. The two collages are mine, the drawings are swallowfield's. I love her work. Jen has a blog, too.
And finally, our sofa table. It came in yesterday. Jeff put it behind the couch while I was coaching PSIA on-site drawing class. (You can see the half wall he built to close in one of our many doorways into the kitchen. :o) I still have to paint. ) It is home to two of my favorite pictures of Jeff and me and one of my fave beach pics of the boys. I am addicted to family photos.
Thanks for looking. We've done alot to our home in four years. I still love it. It's small, cozy, and welcoming.
