Happy.Mother's.Day!!!

Dsc03378 Isn't this the sweetest note ever?!

Long ago, 17 years to be exact, I studied to become an interpreter for the deaf.  Joshua just recently became interested in sign language (finger spelling, really).  He drew all these hands to spell out his Mother's Day message.  "We Love You Mom".

I'll be keeping this forever!

Dsc03376 Here's the other part of my gift...breakfast made by the guys, and homemade card all done outside in our lovely backyard.  I am certainly blessed.

Sansaview1colored Badabing badaboom!  My new toy.

I purchased it yesterday at Office Depot.  8 gigs for $99 smackers with the mail-in rebate.  AND...a 30 day free trial membership with Rhapsody music and Audible.  Music and BOOKS!  I wanted one for the incredibly long flight to France I'll be taking in June.  :o)  I plan on searching for a couple of books + music.  I already have 2 WHOLE SONGS on it.  YAY.

I heart it.

::gruene day::

My day in pictures.  A wonderful time spent with my mom in Gruene.  We had a yummy lunch at The Grist Mill.  The weather was cool and sunshiney. Perfect bday weather.  I bought a hooked rug for beside my bed, a vintage tablecloth, and a Buck pottery soap dispenser for the kitchen.  I'll show those purchases another day.  Have a happy weekend.

Dsc03056 You might see this another time...a possible new banner?  They're wasp catchers.  I may go back and get some of these babies.  All you do is put sugar water in the bottle and the wasps fly up through a hole in the bottom...and meet their untimely death, mwahahahaha.

Collage1 Flowers from a friend early this a.m.  :o)

I love gerbera daisies.  They're so sturdy but at the same time delicate...kinda like tulips.

Last night Jeff took me out to eat.  Tonight was Bible study.  Tomorrow night my parents come from Houston to celebrate.  Saturday my mom and I head to Gruene to shop.  Fun bday.

What I missed most about this birthday is the card from my Nana.  It felt strange not finding it in the mail this year.

Now to bed I go...these flowers are sitting right behind me on our marble top table...they smell SO good!

I don't know what happened...

We tried.  We did a fantastic job last year, but this year...bah.  We always make a gingerbread house over Christmas break and this is as good as it got~

Dsc02941 Doesn't that buttery-sugary soup look tasty?  It looks like success to me.

Dsc02944_2 And look at that dough.  Scrumptious.  I got all those warm and fuzzy, ginger smelling feelings while I mixed this ball of dough.

Dsc02945Candy.  Look at those brightly colored packages gleaming in the afternoon sun, those sweet confections that really really wanted to deck out the gingerbread house.

Sigh. Failure. Complete Disaster.

Thankfully, I had the forethought to buy graham crackers to make the easy version.  We just haven't done it yet.  I kinda got the wind knocked out of my sails.

Hey Macarena...with a smidge of YMCA.

Collage Oh my goodness.  What a fun day at school.  My roommate is the best party planner ever!  She found the funniest, silliest games to play and downloaded some oldies, dance tunes, and Veggie Tales all onto a CD to play while the games were going on.  I think the kids and the teachers had a blast.

I finished the blankies, the drawings for the girls at Home of Family Warmth (I have all the girls in PE, so I have gotten to know them fairly well).  I gave them their pressies last night at the staff party.  One girl liked hers so much she cried.  :o)  It was very touching.  They're all such sweet girls that have come from various backgrounds.  It is amazing to see them transform from street tough girls to sweet, soft-hearted girls.  They still retain their spunk.  God is so faithful.

We have decided to stay home these next two weeks.  Our van is fixed, however, we are exhausted.  The only plans I have are hopefully a few day trips.  Austin. San Antonio. Fredericksberg.  That's it.  The rest will be spent here chilling, movie watching, reading, baking, and arting.  ;o)

Have a Wonderful Weekend and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year (I believe Hanukkah is over...)!  You can find me on the couch!

Out and About

Our little town has spent quite a bit of money restoring the Central Park fountain.  Tonight we took the boys downtown to see the fountain lit with its new lights.  This time of year the park, courthouse, and downtown glimmer with twinkle lights and evergreens.  It really is quite pretty.

Dsc02861 If only it was blustery and cold!  No such luck.  Try balmy and breezy.

I love these street lights.  They bring much nostalgia to downtown.  Too bad the storefronts are mostly empty.  Our town cannot support little businesses for some reason...but they sure can dump millions into the local box store.  (I go to this box store so I am not pooh-poohing per se.  I just think it's a shame the downtown is not thriving.)

Dsc02862 The boys had such fun checking out the fountain.  It has been finished for months but we hadn't made it to the square.

There is is really knotty, gnarled tree that all the kids were climbing.  I think it is a pecan tree.  I'm sure it is since our town is known for its pecans.

Dsc02877I caught a glimpse of Caleb just hanging out up here.  Once I started towards him, the other children at the park decided it was a good looking tree to climb, too.

Dsc028781  Before I let the other kids on, I asked them to step back onto the grass so Joshua could climb up and get a pic too.  :o)  They all did so nicely...and I complemented them on their patience.

Have a sparkly, relaxing weekend!

The panned out view.

I sure do make big messes.

Dsc02814 But loook how clean it is now!  (Caleb crafting in the backyard.)

Makes a body proud, I tell ya.

Dsc02820 **sigh** day's end.  I love it when all's neat and tidy.  It's just waiting for the next paper storm.

* i.heart.paper *

Origamia I really love this paper.  I scanned it into the computer awhile back.  I have been wanting to play with my photoshop program since the summer...soooo, I fooled aorund a bit and made this heart out of the paper square.  :o)  I am so proud of my computer challenged self.

Have a wonderful week!  Tomorrow it's half over.  Then off to H-town for us and a bit of 'culcha' at the museum.
