Happy.Mother's.Day!!!

Dsc03378 Isn't this the sweetest note ever?!

Long ago, 17 years to be exact, I studied to become an interpreter for the deaf.  Joshua just recently became interested in sign language (finger spelling, really).  He drew all these hands to spell out his Mother's Day message.  "We Love You Mom".

I'll be keeping this forever!

Dsc03376 Here's the other part of my gift...breakfast made by the guys, and homemade card all done outside in our lovely backyard.  I am certainly blessed.

almost mother's day

Dsc03282 These two are cooking up something for mother's day...they borrowed my laptop for something. They are both rather excited.  :o)  CAn't wait to see what it is.

Did you know there are only 3 weeks left of school?

Did you know there are only 3 weeks left til I'm on a plane headed to Paris?

House of Cards

Dsc03007 Caleb loves cards.  He collects all different types, colors, etc.  He has loved cards for as long as I can remember.

Since he is grounded from TV, he has pulled out his cards and started playing with them.

He wanted to take pictures of his house.  So here is his coolio creation.  All photos taken by Caleb.

Bicycle cards are his favorites.

County Fair

Dsc02636 Hello!  I have been so swamped with school, I've had no time to update my blog.  I really miss writing.

It's that time of year again, GC County Fair!  When the boys were little we'd take them to ride all the kiddie rides.  Now that they're older, we go to the rodeo.  We went Thursday night and had a wonderful time.  The weather has started to cool off, for Texas, and the night air was dry.

Then, Friday morning Joshua rode on the LCS float.  And I fell.  Yes. Fell.  Off the curb.  My knee, elbow, and shoulder are banged up and so sore.  I am not sure what I was doing.  Not paying attention would be my guess.  I'll heal up in time.  For now, it's an aggravation.

Dsc02648_2 As you can see, there wasn't a cloud in the sky Friday morning. We are only a few blocks from downtown.  We walked part of the way and hitched a ride with some fellow LCS parents.  We cheered for one of of 8th graders.  She is participating in Miss Round-up.  Tonight is the big night.  I hope she wins.

Later in the day, Joshua had a game.  This game was played on a high school field in town.  The school allows us to use their nice field as long as we pick up after ourselves.  They are gracious enough to mark the lines for 6-man football even though their team is 11-man.

Hope your weekend has been a lovely one.  Ours sure has.

New Digs

Dsc02437 Whew! That took longer than I thought.  A whole week.  But everything is newly painted and the boys love it.  The wanted red in their room so I found this color and WM.  Dried Chili Pepper.  The brown walls are Darby Creek and the trim Cashmere White.  I've not put anything back on the walls yet, because I don't know exactly what I'm keeping.

This is Joshua sitting at his desk.  I said, "All I want on this desk is the lamp and the laptop. Period."  We'll see how long that lasts.  He's a piler-of-things.  I did call both guys in and told them that since Joshua was entering Middle School this year, this would be his desk and Caleb could do his work at the kitchen table.  A book shelf is to the left of the desk, so I think that will be the place to stock paper, dictionary, thesaurus, etc.

Guess I'll toodle.  :o)

Geez Louise, That Was Creepy!

Are the words that Caleb said about 5 minutes ago.  After I wiped off my lipstick.  ROFLOL.  We are all going over to a friend's house tonight for dinner and I come out of the bedroom with my makeup on and lipstick (which I rarely ever wear...usually just clear balm).  I walked into the boy's room and they both *gasped*. For real.  "MOM, what are you wearing? Is that.lip.stick? "  "PLEASE. Take it off, now.  This is sooo embarrassing."  I was kinda shocked at their reaction.  I thought I looked nice.  It wasn't like bright red or anything, just a nice light neutral, practically lip color.  The look of abject horror on their faces made me have mercy and I asked for toilet paper and wiped it off. Afterward, as I was laughing, I overheard Caleb say, "Geez Lousie, That was creepy!"

"Guess what?"

Dsc02414 "We got home at 1:20!"

Caleb is the one who bore the glad tidings.  Joshua is still zonked.  It's only 10am but he has never ever ever slept this late before ... well ...since he was a baby.  He is the early riser of the family.

Jeff took them to Malibu in SA yesterday around 6pm.  But first they had to measure Caleb to make sure he could drive the go-carts.  He passed.  :o) I am assuming their evening was spent zooming around a track, pounding video game buttons, mini-golf and who knows what else.

I, on the other hand, had a nice evening to myself.  Got 95% of the laundry done, cleaned bathrooms, watched a movie (Sleepy Time Gal ..so-so), played with the babies, read, and crashed at about 11.  All in total silence. (Except for the movie).  Oh the sounds of silence.

This quilt above is one my Mom made for me for my dorm room before I went off to Tech.  Since I am painting the Boy's room this week I washed theirs and they are folded awaiting a nice, clean, freshly painted grown up room.  I painted over the huge forest that was on the walls.  They're too old for that now.  Now, they'll have 3 walls Darby Creek and one Dried Chili Pepper.  Off to paint.  Have a good one.

Birhtday Boy :: Almost 10

Dsc02265 Is Caleb surprised or what?!

Nonnie and Buddy got him his own basketball goal for his 10th birthday...which is in a few days.

It has been assembled and put on our drive.  Too bad he's been too sick to shoot hoops.  Well.  He's shot a few but just to get it out of his system.

Birthday,Art, and Babies

in that order.Dsc02230   Yesterday, was Joshua's 12th birthday.  I am having a hard time believing that I am the mom of a 'tween'.  Guess I better get use to it.  On Tuesday he had two good buds over for a sleepover.  He ate so much cake and ice cream the following day that he was sick to his stomach.  Hee.  He slept from 7pm Wed. night straight through to Thursday a.m. ... and wanted a milkshake for breakfast.

He is becoming a fine young man and I am so proud of him.  I love you Joshua!

Yesterday, I also had my first lesson with my private art student, Peter.  It was fun.  His mom enrolled him because he absolutely has a nervous breakdown when he has to do projects for school.  Poor guy.  After our warm up drawings, I asked how he was feeling..."Stressed" was the answer I got.  But won't you take a look at this beautiful drawing he did after our boring, stressful warm ups.Dsc02235

Isn't this awesome!  I absolutely love it.  He does too.  I have an image resource file with lots of photographs from wildlife mags.  I have drawn grids on them.  Then I draw grids on a blank piece of bristol and we go box by box.  It's a whole lot easier to break down a picture you want to draw when you are first learning.  So that's what he did.  He drew this.  Not me.  Once it was completed, he asked to use the oil pastels.  So I helped him pick out the correct colors, showed how to blend and he did the rest.  His Mom was shocked to say the least.  And I think Peter was too.

Now.  Babies. I believe I failed to mention that the little girl stray we kept turned out to be preggers.  She was a rail when we found her and as soon as she started eating she ballooned.  We've only had her about a month so, she was two months pregnant when we found her.  Anyhoo... Look what happened last night between 8-11pm.  3 babies!!! Born in Jeff's closet.  She's a good Mama and I am a good kitty Grand Mama.  I changed their bedding and made them all comfy...and took lots of pictures.  :o)Dsc02246

$1.27 pack of balloons + one hot day = FUN!

Dsc02143_4 A picture's worth a thousand words.  That's the saying, right?  Well.  What does this one say?

WATER BALLOON FIGHT!!!!

Boy'haddy has this been a restless transition from full time school to full time summer.  I know it'll all smooth out in a week or so but right now these dudes are driving me nuts.

I headed to the store to get more propane for our burgers tonight and I get a call from Caleb on my way asking for water balloons.  Did you know that WM was completely sold out of water balloons!?!  I guess because of Memorial Day or all the other poor moms who are trying like crazy to keep their now home children from killing each other.  So I had to get helium quality balloons.  It took the guys a while to figure out how best to get them to pop but they did it!  Dsc02151 ... as you can see some burst in mid-air.

I like this pic.  It looks like Caleb is hunched over ready for balloon impact.  Crash landing pose.  hee.

The whole time I am clicking, laughing, somewhat shrieking not to get my camera wet.  I had fun watching them...while filling up the balloons, Joshua and I discussed his 12th birthday sleepover.  A water war is in the works for sure!  Supersoakers, balloons, and those water balls.  Movies.  Video games.  And junk food. Woohoo.

This last picture I took was the final balloon bomb.  It's a bit blurry but it is my overall fave since it shows all the action packed fun the boys had.  It was a lucky click.

Enjoy your evening.  Time for burgers and tots down here.
